Hero - Workshop Kaisercraft

Hello Kaisercraft fans! 

Jo here with you today to share with you a layout created with the AWESOME Workshop collection.

 I love this collection perfect for all the men in our lives. 

Today I chose to scrap a photo of my main squeeze - hubby.

Here is how I created my layout.

First a 12 x 12 piece of white cardstock and add a piece of P2794 down the side.  I also stamped down the side too with the co-ordinating stamp set.

Next - prepare your wooden cogs.  I used some textured and metallic paint to give them a rusty effect.

These can now be glued to the side of your page.

Make a paper cluster from the papers in the mini 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad for your photo to sit on.  I also tucked under the cog sticker from the sticker book along with a doily.

Embellish your page with the die cuts from the collectables along with a couple of the Curios and your page is complete!

Sweet Memories / Apple of my eye - Dusty Attic

Hello and welcome back to the blog. 

Jo here again sharing a layout with you today.

This layout features lots of Dusty goodness and a super sweet photo of my hubby and daughter.

I started this layout by picking this beautiful sheet of paper by Pion Designs.  I didn't really want to add an background work as the paper was so pretty so I started by making a paper cluster for my photo to sit on.

I stapled my papers in the middle and this then allowed me to tuck in all that lovely Dusty chippy and other embellishments.

To start off with I tucked in the Heart Attack Panel that I snipped into bits.  I added some brown ink and a gently swipe of gesso over the top to give it a weathered look.

Fussy cut come flowers and tuck them under.

To create that frame in the middle I used the Decorative Frame #2 along with the Decorative Flourish set.  I embossed them with some glitter and copper embossing powder and glued them together to make them one.  I then glued them in place on top of my photo.

Once that was stuck I could continue with my flowers.  I tucked under the Wattle Blossom along with the new Blooms #1 from the new release

I also used the Foliage #15 which I covered in some green ink and then tucked under the whole flower cluster.

To finish off I added a couple of ink splats and a couple of titles from the Wordplay #3.

Review - Card Deco Essentials Inks - by Couture Creations

Hello paper friends and thanks so much for stopping by!

Today I have a special share.  I was asked by the lovely people at Couture Creations if I would be interested in reviewing some new inks that they have formulated which will be hitting scrapbooking stores soon.  Of course I jumped at the chance!

I was given a few to play with a selection of both pigment and dye.  In total there is 68 colours.  32 pigment colours and 36 dye ink colours.  So I had a few of each to play with.

The pigment inks were the first ones to catch my eye.  The colour palette is divine! Whilst they take a little longer than dye inks to dry the end result is definitely worth it.  They have a high pad that is soft and juicy and the colours have the most beautiful pearly shimmery effect.

This first card I created I used the pigments inks and just some cheap blending brushes.  I blended the colour through a stencil.  I used white non textured cardstock.  Because pigment ink stays wet for longer it is perfect for embossing.  I still had plenty of time to get a good covering of ink, remove my stencil and then applied some clear embossing powder over the top and heat set it.

They blended beautifully!

For my second card I again used the pigment ink. This time I just set it aside to dry and when it was dry it has the most beautiful shimmer from the inks.  The "Smile" sentiment I again used the pigment ink and heat set with some embossing powder.

A tip- when using the pigment ink for blending through a stencil, as the pigment is a lot wetter than the dye based ink use a really gentle hand so that the ink doesn't pool in the corner of your stencil and leave blobs.  You will then get a lovely crisp image when you remove your stencil.

I specifically asked for a white pigment ink in my pack as I wanted to see how it went over black cardstock.  WOW!  It turned out amazing

Usually white ink it a little washed out but this gave me a lovely crisp print on a darker card.  I did use a textured piece of cardstock for this card but had no problems at all blending the ink.  I think it would "pop" even more with a second coat and a non textured card too.  That's on my list of things to try!

For my next card I wanted to see how the pigment ink reacted with a little bit of water.  I wanted to use it as a bit of a splash of colour on the back of my card and thought it may of lost a bit of its pearly shimmer.  But NOPE!  Still perfect and pretty! 

But here comes the totally awesome bit - These inks cover chipboard like a dream!!!! Seriously one coat was all I needed on those chipboard leaves.  And again the shimmer - oh so pretty!!  Everyone knows how much I love chipboard so this for me is a game changer!

I then switched to the dye based inks.

My first card I used the same stencil and the same technique with blending brushes loaded up with the dye ink.

The result was a little softer, not quite as vibrant as the pigment but even tho they were softer, they were true to colour on the lid.  The dye based inks when blending, while they blend really well the take a little longer to build up the colour.  I love the soft pretty look it gave.  I stamped the sentiment in the lilac dye ink and its stamped beautifully and crisp!

For my last card I decided to use both the inks together.

I stamped the image with the dye based black ink.  PERFECT results!  Beautiful crisp image.

I then used both the inks with just a dribble of water to colour my image.  I also stamped my sentiment with the black dye ink too.

So I have to say after really putting these inks through their paces, I am definitely a lover of these little ink pads.  They really pack a punch!  There is a lovely colour palette and I love the smaller size as the are easier for storage and for me I find them easier to handle as well.

Let it Snow - Kaisercraft

Hello Kaisercraft fans and welcome to my very first post as an official Kaisercraft Design Team member! 

To say I am excited is a little bit of an understatement!  I am extremely humbled to be a part of this team, its been a bit of dream for a few years now and I am so looking forward to sharing my creations with you.

Today I am sharing a Christmas layout (I know Christmas!) using the oh so pretty Let It Snow collection.  This collection is full of shimmer and shine with lots of silver foiling and the most prettiest of soft greens and turquoise colours.

To start my page I cut pieces of paper from the paper pad into 2.5 x 2.5 inch squares and stuck them on a white 12 x 12 cardstock that was trimmed to 11 x 11 inches.  I then hand stitched around the edges for a patchwork look.  I then adhered this page to P2810 Wonderland.

Next I made a paper cluster again from the small paper pad and also tucked in a doily. 

I positioned this on the right hand side of my page.

I added my photo and also framed it using the Sketched Circle Frame die. 

 Now its time to make your pretty clusters. I have layered this on top of each other with a mix of foam tape and glue.   Oh these baubles are sooooo pretty!  They would look perfect on a card too for a special someone.

I added the clusters to the left hand side of my page as well as a couple of the extra baubles from the collectables pack.  To make them look a little more grounded on the page, I added a string of pearls.  To finish off my page I covered the snowflake wooden flourishes in some silver kindy glitz and tucked them in a few places around my layout.  Here is a closer look at those finished embellishments.

Christmas Cards Let it Snow - Kaisercraft

Hey hey friends!

So this month marks the start of the first release of Christmas ranges from Kaisercraft.  Let me introduce to you - Let It Snow!

So pretty and shimmery and that teal colour is just DIVINE!

I have created a couple of quick cards to share with you using my favourite technique at the moment which is ink blending.

To start I inked a strip of white cardstock using the Kaisercraft inks and a blending brush.  The colours I used were Peacock and Sea Breeze.

Once I had the strip blended I stamped using the co-ordinating stamp set from the collection using the Metalic Silver ink.  It gave a very soft almost water mark look.

I then added some of the pretty foil baubles from the collectables pack and some sticky backed string pearls.

Masculine Cards with Workshop by Kaisercraft

Hello paper friends and thank you so very much for stopping by!

Have you seen the new collection just released by Kaisercraft?  It is a masculine collection called Workshop - perfect for the men in our life!

I thought I would share a couple of cards today that I created using the new collection and also using some of the Kaisercraft ink pads.

For this first card I cut a strip of white paper and then set about blending some of the ink colours together.

I love the effect this gave.  It almost has a bit of a leathery feel to it.

I then added the strip to a white card bae and added a couple of the collectables along with the "Happy Fathers Day" quote from the small paper pad.

For my second card I used the same technique but kept the ink blending contained in a small rectangle in the centre of my card base.

Before I added it to a piece of patterned paper from the small paper pad, I stamped it using the co-ordinating stamp set from the Workshop collection using a mix of the chestnut and licorice inks.

I then added some collectables and the little sentiment was from the small paper pad.

Summer Sunshine - August Mood Board Dusty Attic

Hello friends, its Jo here to share with you my take on this months mood board for the month of August!

Here is our mood board to play with.

Doesn't that look so good right about now for us in Australia?  The pool and the palm trees reminded me a little of our little backyard oasis so I decided to scrapbook a pic of us around the pool in summer time.  Not something you see very often for me!  I'm usually on the side of the water.  Never in it!

I started by adding some blue ink to my background page and then fussy cut some tropical images.  I then started to tuck under all that yummy Dusty Attic goodness!

The beautiful branch #3 that is featuring on my page I just covered with gesso and left it without anything other colouring.

I added some distress oxide ink in Salty Ocean to the Broken Bits #6 and tucked them under my photo and in my clustering of embellishments.

The foliage # 19 I added some gesso to and then gently added some green ink to it but didn't completely cover it.

My title I kept simple with the mini tags no. 3 .
