Best Wishes Card

Hey everyone!  Wowsers!  Only 13 sleeps till Christmas!  Getting very close now.

I have finally finished my shopping.  Yay me!  Amongst all the hustle and bustle of Christmas and end of year school festivities, I was asked to make a card for our school Principal who is leaving us this year.

I must say I love making cards for people who really appreciate all the work and love that goes into it and this lady is one of those people.  She has bought lots of my cards for herself to give over the few years she has been at the school, so it was fantastic to be able to make one for her that she can keep.

I loved making this card!  I have used my Martha Stewart around the page punch set and the most beautiful papers from Megs garden.  These papers are just stunning!

Hope she likes the finished result.

Birthday Card

Hello!  Hope you are all well and enjoying the lead up to Christmas.

Today I have a card to share with you using the new Large Joe's Garden embossing folder and a quick tutorial on how I achieved the colour on the card.

Here's the supplies you will need.

Using the Joe's Garden Embossing folder, emboss some white cardstock.

Next grab some Perfect Pearls and a Versamark inkpad along with a fine paint brush.

Very gently rub the Versamark inkpad over the raised part of the cardstock.  Be careful not to press to hard.

Very gently brush over the wet part with some Perfect Pearls and flick off the excess.

Once you have finished colouring your embossed card, give it a light mist with a water spritzer.  This will "set" the powder and give a soft and shimmery effect.  Its a little hard to see in the photo but trust me this really is shimmery!.

I have then added my Alycone Doily from the Royal Jewels Collection and also used my Circle and Scallop Circle Nesting dies for my sentiment to finish my card and of course some hand stitching with my paper piercer from the 3 in one Tool Set.

Thanks for stopping by and a very merry and blessed Christmas to you all.

Alvin

Hey friends!

Just recently I have been teaching scrapbooking classes at my local scrap shop - Craft
y Capers.  I have met some lovely ladies and had a fantastic time.  Today I thought I would share with you a page I taught a few weeks back.

I loved working with this paper range.  Not something that I would normally use but the colours were just fab and went perfect with this pic of my cheeky little man!

The paper line is by Boy Bunny - Zip ee doo!
Here is a close up

If you are in the Perth area and interested in some scrapbooking classes give Toni at Crafty Capers a call.

December Daily

Hey everyone!  Well Christmas time is well and truly upon us.  Didn't that sneak up on me!  We were set a little challenge this month on the DT to come up with something along the lines of December Daily.  For those that aren't sure what this is, it is like a journal that you record all the things you do in the lead up to Christmas.  Here is my take on it.

I have made like a file folder to put my pics on of what my little family gets up to in the weeks leading up to Christmas.  I used a heap of Couture goodies in this album.  On the front is the Irish Dreams Doily Die from the Fantasia Collection.  I have also used the Rudolph die and some glitter paper for a bit of sparkle.  The flourish is Moments in Time again using some glitter paper.  The "Merry Christmas" is just one of many pieces that an be cut from the paper pad.

I have used the 12 x 12 Vintage Christmas paper pad to cover my folder.  This has heaps of pieces that can be fussy cut and used as embellishments. Her is a look at the inside.

In the top corner I have used the Mistletoe die and added a few red gemstones to the centre for a bit of extra interest.  The two corner pieces are were cut again from glitter paper using the Clements die.

I have embossed some pearlised red cardstock with the Moonlit Berries embossing folder and created a pocket for some tags.

In the paper pad there is a sheet of paper with these Christmas sentiments on.  Perfect for to make simple and quick Christmas cards using my rectangle and scallop rectangle nesting dies.  Again I added the  holly at the bottom.  Once you have given your cards away you could then use this pocket for the Christmas cards you receive!

This next part of the album has lots of space for photos and journaling

I used another of the sheets in the paper pad that was like a Christmas countdown and cut them out as embellishments.

This last page opens up to give a little more room for more photos.  Again I have used the Moonlit Berries embossing folder and at the bottom is the Santa's Sleigh die.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share.  Hope I have inspired you to have a go at your own December Daily.

Until next time

Garage Days

Hey everyone!  Oh my gosh!  Can you believe we are just a few short weeks out from Christmas?  How did that happen?  It has snuck up again on me this year.

Today I have a layout to share with you.  I have been playing around with the Garage Days paper line from Kaisercraft.

This pic is of my dear hubby.  He had the opportunity to fly across to Bathurst this year with some mates and this paper I thought was perfect for it!

I also had a bit of a play with some texture paste and inks and stamps.  Still trying to perfect a bit of mixed media.

Thanks for stopping by and have great day :)

Party Time!

It's my turn on the blog again today and its time to parteeeeee!!!!

This time of the year is always super busy for me at school.  My girlfriend and I go "all out" to celebrate World Teachers Day and I also have the job of making all the invitations for our Year 7 Graduates.  This year is a little special for me as my middle boy is graduating primary school.

We have an owl as our mascot at school.  It stands for Our Wonderful Learners.  Here is what I have been creating using some fabbo products from Couture Creations

The party hat I made by purchasing plain party hats and putting tinsel around them and also cutting out an owl image with the Scallop Nesting Dies.  The little picks at the front are made along the same line.  I printed an owl image and then used my Circle Nesting Dies and Scallop Nesting dies.  We have made 80 cupcakes so a pick will go into each one.

Soon as I seen the Hoot Hoot die I knew it would be perfect for our Graduation invitations.  I again used my Circle and Scallop Nesting Dies and teamed it with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder.  My little owl needed something to sit on and the Jasmine Dream die was perfect!    Here's a closer shot of the invite.

I have 70 of these to make so I need to get my skates on!

The owl lolly bag was a hoot to make! hehehe.  Here's how I did it.

Using the Victorian Square Nesting dies cut out your cardstock.  I have then ran it through my cuttlebug using the Walrus & Carpenter Embossing Folder from the Dreamscapes Collection.  I chose this one as it reminded me of feathers.

Then fold your die cut in half and you just have to finish of using the Circle Nesting Dies for the eyes and the Heart Nesting Dies for the nose.  We have 80 of these for all of our teachers at school!

Until next time!

Santas Little Helpers Layout

Hi everyone!  Well we are now just one month or so away from Christmas!  How did that happen?  As you can see from this blog post I'm still scrapping last years photos!

For this layout I have used the 12 x 12 Premium Paper Pad - Vintage Christmas.  These paper pads are fantastic as they have lots of little pieces that can be cut out either by hand or using your nesting dies and used for embellishments.

I have embossed a red and green piece of Core-dinations cardstock and sanded it back to reveal a the kraft card underneath.  The red piece I have patched to make it a little bigger for my page and then managed to cover the seam with my photos and other embellishments.

Using the Alcyone Doily die  from the Royal Jewels collection I cut my doily in half and inked it before placing it in the top right and corner and the left hand side.

The two holly cuts are the new dies from the Magical Christmas Collection called Mistletoe.  I have just added some red gemstones to a centre of the holly to make it a little more "Christmassy".

Using cereal boxes I have cut out the Damaris die from the Sophia Collection.  I cut it twice and just stuck them together to give them a little more thickness and then inked over them and placed them under my photos.

I have also gone a little nuts with the hand stitching again!  This was done with my favourite tool that I just can't live without, my Paper Piercer from the 3 piece handheld tool set.

These photos are now so precious to me.  This was the last Christmas we got to spend with my dear father in law.  He passed away 3 weeks after Christmas.  Never did we think that it would be our last Christmas together!  Just goes to show - you can never have to many photos to scrap!

Thanks for letting me share.

Until next time

Curiosity by Kaisercraft

Hi and thanks for stopping by.

My poor little blog has been neglected a bit over the last few months tho I have been very busy.

I also have some more exciting news to share too.  I'm going to be teaching at one of the local scrapbooking shops here in Perth (insert squeal here!).  Crafty Capers in Greenwood is the place I'm going to be sharing my love of paper at.  I'm feeling a little nervous about it.  I have only taught from home but all I can do is give it a go and pass on what I know and love to others.

This week I have been playing around with the Curiosity papers from Kaisercraft.  Oh boy.  I have fallen in love with this paper line.  I usually don't like to use orange but this one has lots of orange and apricot tones in it and it just seemed to work for me.

This is one of the layouts I have created.

I love how this turned out.  The collectables make it easy to embellish and by just adding a few extras it just all comes together.

I was able to get three layouts done using this collection.  The next two I thought were perfect for my mum and dads wedding photos.

And here is the last one.

Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.  They brighten my day.

Until next time

Celebrate Cards

Good morning all!

It's my turn again on the Couture blog today.

I love the elegant look of a simple white embossed card combined with one other colour.  They are so quick to pull together and they look really stylish though simple.

Today I have two cards to share with you.  I used white and purple as my colour combo.

I cut a piece of white cardstock 8.5cm x 12.5cm.  I then just ran the bottom half through my cuttlebug using the Tied Together embossing folder (an old folder but a good one!)

Mat this piece onto some purple card and then adhere it to your card front.  I have then cut a piece of purple cardstock and stuck it across the centre of the card.

Die cut from a piece of white cardstock a doily using the  Ivy Doily Set from the Fantasia Collection .

The sentiment is one from the new 3 in 1 Dreamboat collections - Ornate Frame.

I have then stamped some butterflies from the 3 in one Dreamboat Collection.  Seriously - these 3 in one are FANTASTIC!  You can use everything in the collection or just use some like I have on this card.  I have then cut out my butterfly and curled the wings.  I then added a blossom and some silver gemstones to finish my card.

Here is my second card

Another simple yet elegant card.

For this card I have used one of our new Christmas embossing folders Wild Holly from Wrapped in Joy Collection  Just another reason I love Couture Creations -  it doesn't matter what you use it just all seems to go!  Love that I can use this folder for everything including Christmas.

Instead of embossing the whole piece of white cardstock, I have embossed just the top and bottom, leaving a blank strip to stamp my butterflies.

Once you have embossed the bottom, turn your paper and embossed the top.

I now have a blank strip for stamping.  I used the butterfly stamps from the 3 in one Dreamboat Collection - Ornate Frame.  I then added some silver gemstones to the middle of my butterflies.

I have stamped my sentiment again from the Ornate Frame 3 in one collection using the Victorian Square Nesting Dies and cutting off the top to make a tab.

Thanks for letting me share again!  If you want some more inspiration on the 3 in one Dreamboat Collection that I have been using have a look here and see what some of the other DT gals have been up to.

Until next time

Peaceful Ornaments

Hey everyone!

Can you believe its October already??  Last month I received some gorgeous embossing folders and dies in my DT package and the Peaceful Ornaments embossing folder from the new Wrapped In Joy Collection really caught my eye.

I have made two simple cards with this folder.

For this first card I ran 2 pieces of cardstock (one red, one white) through my machine using the Peaceful Ornaments embossing folder.

I then used my Circle Nesting Dies to cut out the three round baubles.

You can now just lay this red piece directly over the white piece.  Then with the left over circles that have been cut out, fold them in half and run a thin bead of glue down the fold and stick to the middle.  Finish with some pearls and ribbon.

I then cut the white embossed wording and positioned it on the red cardstock

My second card was very quick and easy.

With this card I simply ran a piece of white cardstock through my machine using the Peaceful Ornaments embossing folder

To "glam" up my baubles, I used the gold Glitzin Glamour.  I found the easiest way to do this was by just dabbing it on with my finger.  Then finished with some pearls and ribbon and you have a super quick but very pretty card!

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope I have inspired you to get a jump start on your Christmas crafting.

True Love Layout

Wow we are now into another month!  I was reminded a couple of weeks ago just how close to Christmas we are getting by receiving a lovely box of products from Couture Creations.  Yep amongst all the new dies there was lots of Christmas embossing folders.

I couldn't get my head around Christmas just yet so I have had a play with some of the new dies from the Sophia range.  Oh my there are some lovely products in this new release!

Anyway here is my layout

I have used 2 of the new dies on this layout.  Ferretti, which is the flourish under the embossed heart at the bottom.  This is a lovely big flourish.  Perfect for scrap pages and big enough to cut in half and not loose any of the effect.

The other die I used was the Bloch.  This is the row of tulips.  How cute!  I inked the bottom of it and then embossed it with one of the new Christmas embossing folders.  The pattern wasn't too Christmasy so it worked perfectly.

Here is how I made the lacy border at the top and bottom

I have then just cut the tops off each end and positioned it so it looks like a border

I did this for the top and bottom border.

I have used core cardstock and embossed them.  I then sanded back the top layer for a white washed look.

Thanks for letting me share.

Until next time

Exploding Box

Hi everyone

I'm back again today to share with you a little off the page project that I made for Couture Creations  using lots of their yummy products.

Recently the lady across the road had her 4th baby girl so instead of a traditional present I thought I would make a keepsake.  This is an exploding box.  There are lots of tutorials on Youtube on how to make these.

On the lid I have used the Alcyone Doily Die from the Royal Jewels collection and the Tranquility flourish die along with some paper flowers.

The outside of my box I have used the lower half of the Petite Fleur Embossing Folder from the Romantique Collection.  This folder was was fantastic to use as it has a line of embossed dots so it gave me a guideline for placing my pearls.

The inside of my box reveals a cake made with my Circle Nesting Dies.  I also used these and my Scallop Circle Nesting Dies to make the photo mats.

Here is a quick run down on how to make the cake.

I cut two circles from my nesting dies.

Then cut two long strips.  The width will depend on our wide you want your cake to stand.  Then score two lines approx. 1cm in from each end.

Once you have scored your lines you will then need to cut little triangles out.  Just cut up to the score line.  This makes it much easier to get your paper to bend around the circles you have just cut out.

You can now pop a small amount of glue onto the circle and start and wrap the snipped strip around.  When you get to the end just snit off the extra length.  You can now place these in the middle of your box.

Here is a closer look at the cake.

For the inside photo mats I have used the Large Damask Flourish Embossing Folder and the hearts from the Nesting Hearts Dies

This was heaps of fun to make.  Hope I have inspired you to have a go at making your own.  The ideas are endless!  Until next time.
